Buddy Griffin & His Orchestra w/ Claudia Swann - “I Want to Hug You, Kiss You, Squeeze You”
This is my favorite song on The Chess Story box set, a box set you gotta get if you like blues, jazz, and soul. I would love to hear someone cover this song and keep to the sultry playfulness.
I wish I knew more about Buddy and Claudia. From what I gather, Buddy Griffin and Claudia Swann eventually married, and this song was one of their last before the disbanding of Griffin’s orchestra. Despite their loose affiliations with the Moonglows and Bo Diddley, they seem to have disappeared amid the 50’s music hustle.
Just walked into the Hair & Makeup room that I was in with Joel. He was only slightly passive aggressive when he brought up Joel making fun of him in the past. The slaps to Joel’s chest were only slightly harsh. He was more than slightly creepy.
“Stop calling what is happening to the financial markets an adjustment. An adjustment is something you do in your sweatpants when your penis falls out of your underwear. This is a cluster fuck.”—Bill Maher, Real Time, New Rule #2 (via sdot)
The kid that plays the oldest son on Big Love is currently sitting on the curb outside of the Good Luck Bar drunk and swaying. This is not the first time I’ve seen him drunk round these parts…could he be the new baby Keifer?
Last Wednesday my iPhone decided to become a jerk and discontinue my usage of its power button. Basically, it just decided to lose all functionality in that area. What was I going to do? The button just wouldn’t do anything. I pushed and pushed and nothing would happen. I was now left with a phone that I could not turn off at all. Not even for the much needed semi-weekly restart. I was so sad. I started going through all the apple conspiracy theories in my head…you know the ones where your beloved apple product commits suicide shortly after the newer version is available forcing you to run out and buy the newer version cause now you have adapted your life around this thing and no longer know how to function without it…..yea, that theory. So, Sunday afternoon I made an appointment for the genius bar at the mac store in the Grove. I was hoping, fingers crossed that they could fix it. Right now is not the time for me be to be spending $200+ on a new phone. Sunday afternoon I get to the mac store and walk straight upstairs for my appointment. I didn’t allow myself to look at anything. nothing. nada. I was not here to buy the 3G I was here to get my old fashion iPhone fixed and darn it they were going to fix it. So, Gus (or something just as old man sounding) called me over for my appointment. I showed him my phone and said “see it doesn’t work. I push the button and nothing happens. See! I’m pushing it a million times and nothing.” he looks me right in the eyes, smiles and says “ok, I’ll just got get you a new one”. “um, really? just like that I get a new one?” and Gus again smiles and says “yep” and off he goes and barely moments later returns with my new iPhone (well new to me as I’m sure is a refurb cause its the old fashioned kind). I was in and out of the store in like 20mins. Smiling. I knew the love was real.
